September Issue - Just 4 Kids

After Jesus died and arose from the dead He walked on earth for 40 days with His friends. On the 40th day He lead his apostles to a mountain. Jesus told them, ďGo and baptize all people. Teach them everything I told you. I am with you always. I will send My Spirit.Ē Then Jesus ascended into heaven to be with his Father God. His friends no longer saw Him. The apostles went back to the city. They prayed for the Holy Spirit to come.

On the day of Pentecost as the apostles were gathered together praying they heard a strong wind. They saw tongues of fire. They knew that God was there. Jesus kept His promise. He sent His Spirit. Everyone there was filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke in different tongues. The Holy Spirit filled them with Godís love. He helped the apostles to have strength to go and tell everyone about Jesusí great love. The Holy Spirit gave the apostles great power to heal people.

This story is found in Acts 2. The rest of the book of Acts tells about Jesusí apostles going out to the world and teaching about Jesus and His love, and how they walked in Godís Power with the Holy Spirit. Today Jesus still gives his Holy Spirit to His people. When the Holy Spirit is with us He helps us to show everyone Jesusí love, and He gives us strength to walk in Godís Power.

In John 14:15 Jesus said, ďIf you love me you will obey meĒ. If we love Jesus we must obey Godís Commandments, and the teachings of Jesus that are written in the Bible. If you love Jesus you will want to know more about Him, and read the Bible. Spend time with Jesus everyday by praying to Him.

    What is Prayer?

Prayer is: * Having a conversation with your heavenly Father, God.

    * telling God & Jesus that you love them.

    * Sharing with God all the things that are in your heart.

    * Thanking God for the wonderful blessings He has given you.

    * Growing close to God by sharing this private, quite time together.

Prayer is talking to God. Just like talking to your dad, mom or friends. When you pray, you do not have to use fancy words or pray at one certain time each day. God really wants to hear what is on your mind.

What do you talk to God about?

Some of the things you can pray about include:

    * What you are happy about.

    * What you are worried about.

    * What makes you afraid.

    * What your dreams are for your life.

The best thing is that talking to God every day means you are walking through life with your heavenly Father by your side. The more you pray, the more you will understand how important it is to be close to God. Praying every day means you are going through every moment of life - the good times, bad times, and all the time with God right there with you.

If you spend time with God, learn about Him and obey His commandments, you will start walking with Godís Power. You will know what to do even in bad times, because you will learn to hear Godís voice and obey what He tells you.

"Be careful - watch out for attacks from Satan, Your great enemy. He prowls around like a hungry, roaring lion, looking for some victim to tear apart. Stand firm when he attacks. Trust the Lord; and remember that other christians all around the world are going through these sufferings too.

After you have suffered a little while, our God, who is full of kindness through Christ, will give you His eternal glory. He personally, will come and pick you up, and set yoru firmly in place, and make you stronger than ever. To Him be all power over all things, forever and ever. Amen"
