Grounded

Six year old Robert disobeyed one of the family rules and his Dad reluctantly grounded him. The next morning Robert sat on his Dad's lap and asked, "Dad I know that I disobeyed the rules, but can I have a second chance?"

His Dad thought for a moment. He hated grounding his son, and he seldom got in trouble. "I will Pray about it son. I will let you know how long your grounding will last." "OK Dad," Robert replied. "I Love you, and I am really sorry for not obeying the rules."

Later that afternoon Robert's older brother, James came to talk to his Dad.
"Dad is Robert still grounded?" "Yes, he is," replied his father, "Why?"
"Well I was thinking about how Robert can not go anywhere because he is grounded, and it makes me sad that he can not go with me to our friends house." It was the beginning of summer and the brothers had been planning on going to their friends house to go swimming and then to play baseball with a group of friends at the park.

What would James do? What would you do?

          W. W. J. D?

          What Would Jesus Do?

The above story is based on a true story. Below is what James said to his Dad.

"Dad, is it alright if I ground myself, so that Robert will not be alone?
If it is OK with you I want to stay home and be grounded with my brother. I do not want to go to our friends house without him. I want to stay home and be with my brother."

This surprised their Father. But he remembered what Jesus did for us and he answered his son; "It is OK if you ground yourself to be with your brother. Jesus did the same thing when He left Heaven to come down to Earth to be with us. Jesus came to teach us about His Father God. He walked with us and showed us the way to live our lifes in a way that pleases God."
