Rainbow Jewelery Store

Nobles and wealthy people wore jewelry to show how rich and important they were. Men and women wore earrings, rings brooches, and necklaces made of gold and many were sent with beautiful jewels. Wealthy people had precious stones embroidered into their clothes and hats.

The styles of jewelry changed over time. The most popular jewelry over the years is a cross worn around the neck. The cross shows others that we are a follower of Jesus Christ who died on a cross to redeem us from our sins.

Gemstones are said to have special blessings. It was believed that if your wore the gemstone of the month you were born in you would be more likely to receive the blessings. Therefore many people would wear their birthstone.

Rich people wore lots of jewelry to show that they were wealthy and important. Most poor people had no decorations on their clothes. You can make yourself a chain with paper, glue and aluminum foil.

   1.   Glue aluminum foil to each side of a piece of paper, cover the whole piece. Cut it into narrow strips about three inches long.

   2.   Glue the ends of one strip together to make a link.

   3.   Thread another strip through the first link and glue the ends together to make a second link.

   4.   Continue adding links until your chain is long enought to go around your neck and as far as your chest.

   5.   Click on the cross below and cut out or make a cross out of the aluminum foil. Make a small hole on the top of the cross and thread through one of the links.

God instructed Aaron, Moses' brother, to make and wear a breastplate with twelve different stones. Each stone was to remind Aaron to pray for each of the twelve tribes. CLICK HERE to read about the stones in Aaron's Breastplate.
