    Day 17 ~ Q~ Quiets Storm

    TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

    Isaiah 60:1-6
    2 Corinthians 4:4-6
    Matthew 8: 23-27
    Psalm 27:1-3

Today is the Seventeenth day of the Lent season. Today's story is one of my favorite Bible stories about Jesus. One day after preaching to many people Jesus told His disciples to go to the other side of the lake. While Jesus was sleeping in the boat a really bad storm came. The disciples were scared that they would be killed from the terrible waves. They woke Jesus up, and He just told the storm to be QUIET and the storm instantly became still. The disciples were amazed that even the winds and waves obeyed Jesus. The Gospels of Matthew 8, Mark 4 and Luke 8 records the story of Jesus telling the storm to be Quiet. Click on each Gospel in the above line and compare the stories. Can you see how each storyteller told the same story but in a different way? Which version do you like the best. There are many pictures that painters have made of this story. CLICK HERE to view some that we found. Which picture is your favorite?

    Day 18 ~ R ~ RESURRECTION OF JAIRUS' DAUGHTER

    TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

    Isaiah 66:12-13
    Revelation 22:1-6
    Matthew 9: 18-26
    Psalm 46:1-11

Today is the Eighteenth day of the Lent season. Today is another awesome story from the second year of Jesus' ministry, also known as THE YEAR OF POPULARITY. Jesus was preaching to a crowd of people who were hungry to hear the WORD of GOD. Jairus, a synagog leader came up to Jesus and pleaded with Him to come to his home to heal his dying daughter. Jesus went with Jairus to his home, but they were told that the daughter was now dead. Jesus replied that she was not dead but only sleeping. The crowd at Jairus' home laughed at Jesus' words. Jesus told the people to leave the house, and he went in to the little girls room. He said "Little girl, I say to you get up". The little girl came back to life and arose. When people heard that Jesus could even RESURRECT the dead they were astonished. This wonderful story is in Matthew 9 18-26 (below) Luke 8:41-56 and in Mark 5:21-43 CLICK HERE TO READ MORE.

      TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

      Proverbs 12:17
      Acts: 1:8
      Luke 9:1-6
      Psalm 16:1-11

Today is the Nineteenth day of the Lent season. Today we read about Jesus sending out His twelve disciples to witness and Spread the Good News. This story is recorded in Luke 9:1-6; Matthew 10: 1-42; and Mark 6: 6-13. Click on Matthew scripture to read it in our Rainbow Castle Section. This is our last story from Jesus' second year in Ministry.

Witnessing is a vital part of the Christian life

The Bible teaches that the true believer will desire to share with others what God has done for him; read John 4:28-30,39-42 and 1 John 1:1-4. God commands us and empowers us to be His witnesses (Matthew 4:19 and Acts 1:8). Our testimony will not always be accepted, but through the Holy Spirit indwelling our hearts we receive power to live a victorious Christian life and serve Christ effectively; read Ephesians 5:18 and Luke 11:13.

Here are a few suggestions that might help you to lead others to Christ: Live a consistent Christ-centered life; be a friend and a good listener; pray that the Holy Spirit will give opportunity for witness and prepare the individual to receive the Word of life (John 16:7-11); and avoid arrogance and preachiness. You should pray daily for the people on your prayer list and ask God for wisdom to present the claims of Christ to them; read James 1:5, 3:17.

    Day 20 ~ T ~ TROUBLE BEGINS

    TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

    Nahum 1:7-8
    James 5:13-16
    Matthew 14:1-12
    Psalm 9:9-10

Today is the twentieth day of the Lent season. We are half way through the 40 days of Lent lessons. The story today is about the beheading of John the Baptist. John was beheaded during the beginning of Jesus' third year in ministry. Most scholars call this THE YEAR OF OPPOSITION. Trouble started because the Rabbis were very concerned about the growing popularity of Jesus. They did not like the teachings of Jesus, nor did they like that Jesus was calling Himself the Messiah. So the Rabbis wanted to put an end to Jesus and His ministry. The story of John the Baptist beheading is also found in Mark 6:6-13.

Day 21 ~ U ~Unbelievable Feed

    TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

    Nehum 9:16-21
    Acts 19:11-12
    Matthew 14:13-21
    Psalm 77:13-14; and Psalm 78:11-16

Today is the twenty first day of the Lent season. The lesson today is another one of my favorites. It is a very popular Bible story. Jesus had been preaching to a huge crowd, and at the end of the day the disciples told Jesus that He should send the people away because they were getting hungry. Jesus told the disciples to feed the crowd, but they only had five loaves of bread and two fish. That was barely enough to feed Jesus and the disciples. Jesus had compassion for the people, so He told the disciples to bring the food to Him. He blessed it by saying a prayer to God. They passed the food out and amazingly there was enough for the crowd of 5,000 people to be full, with more bread and fish left over than when they began.

God cares about us, and He does not forget about our needs. When you realize that our God is the one who made the whole Universe, then you will understand that God can do anything. God can feed the whole world so Jesus realized that feeding 5,000 was no problem. The Scriptures today are about the Miracles of God.

Day 22 ~ V ~ VISITS MOUNTAIN TO BE ALONE

    TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

    2 Chronicles 30:27
    Colossians 1:15-23
    Matthew 14:22-23
    Psalm 37:1-11

Today is the twenty second day of the Lent season. We have been reading in the Bible this week and last week about Jesus being very busy in His ministry. He was walking through all the towns telling crowds of people about God's Kingdom. He was healing people and setting people free from demons and bondage. Many times we read that as soon as Jesus tried to leave for quiet time and to rest, but the crowds would follow Him. They would not leave Him alone. In today's scripture we read a sentence that says "After He had dismissed them, He went up on a mountainside by Himself to pray. Later that night, He was there alone." This happened after Jesus fed the 5,000 people and before He walked on water.

There are other scriptures in the Bible that report Jesus going off to be alone to pray to God. It was very necessary for Jesus to take that time to be alone with God to make sure that He was hearing God and in God's Will. Jesus showed us by example that we need to find time alone to talk to God, and have quiet time so that we can hear God.

By reading the Word of God (The Bible), we learn knowledge of God and His ways. Then it becomes easy for us to know and understand what are God's ways and what is of the world and what is from the devil. That is why it is important to read the Bible every day. Jesus gave us an example on how to Pray in Luke 11:1-4. Many people learn this prayer and pray it. That is good, but what Jesus was trying to do was give us an example of how to pray from our heart to God. He said not to memorize prayers but pray from your heart. Jesus taught us that we are to have a personal relationship with God. God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit should be your very best friends. Once you realize how much God loves you, it will come easy to pray to God from your heart.
