Today is the thirty-eighth day of the Lent season. On Thursday Jesus and His disciples ate the "Last Supper" it was on the first night of the Passover festival, or during the Seder Meal. During this meal Jesus explained to His Disciples that The Bread was His body and the wine was His blood of the new covenant, shed for the remission of our sins. Jesus instructed us to "Do This in remembrance of Me" (Luke 22:19)
Later that night after they ate the supper Jesus and the Disciples went to the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus prayed and when He came back down Judas and the Roman soldiers came to Jesus. Judas betrayed him and the soldiers took Jesus away to jail. CLICK HERE TO READ THIS STORY
Almighty and everlasting God, Thank you for the reminder of of what Jesus did for us by the breaking of bread together. Help us to keep Your Holy Days to honor and love you. Thank you for being the God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
12 “On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD. 13 The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.
14 “This is a day you are to commemorate; for the generations to come you shall celebrate it as a festival to the LORD—a lasting ordinance."
42 "They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching
and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders
and signs performed by the apostles.
44 All the believers were together and had everything in common."
23 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank from it.
24 “This is my blood of the[a] covenant, which is poured out for many,” he said to them. 25 “Truly I tell you, I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”
26 When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives."
