2 Corinthians 4:4-6
Matthew 8: 23-27
Today is the Seventeenth day of the Lent season. Today's story is one of my favorite Bible stories about Jesus. One day after preaching to many people Jesus told His disciples to go to the other side of the lake. While Jesus was sleeping in the boat a really bad storm came. The disciples were scared that they would be killed from the terrible waves. They woke Jesus up, and He just told the storm to be QUIET and the storm instantly became still. The disciples were amazed that even the winds and waves obeyed Jesus. The Gospels of Matthew 8, Mark 4 and Luke 8 records the story of Jesus telling the storm to be Quiet. Click on each Gospel in the above line and compare the stories. Can you see how each storyteller told the same story but in a different way? Which version do you like the best. There are many pictures that painters have made of this story. CLICK HERE to view some that we found. Which picture is your favorite?
Almighty and everlasting God, Thank you for being the God over all, and able to calm the storms. Thank you for giving me peace in my heart. Amen.

1 “Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.
2 See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the LORD rises upon you
and his glory appears over you.
3 Nations will come to your light,
and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
4 “Lift up your eyes and look about you:
All assemble and come to you;
your sons come from afar,
and your daughters are carried on the hip.
5 Then you will look and be radiant,
your heart will throb and swell with joy;
the wealth on the seas will be brought to you,
to you the riches of the nations will come.
6 Herds of camels will cover your land,
young camels of Midian and Ephah.
And all from Sheba will come,
bearing gold and incense
and proclaiming the praise of the LORD."
1 "The LORD is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked advance against me
to devour[a] me,
it is my enemies and my foes
who will stumble and fall.
3 Though an army besiege me,
my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me,
even then I will be confident.

Jesus Calms the Storm
23 "Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him.
24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat.
But Jesus was sleeping.
25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us!
We’re going to drown!”
26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?”
Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves,
and it was completely calm.
27 The men were amazed and asked,
“What kind of man is this?
Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
